The CFTF 2024-2025 Indoor Track Season got off to an impressive start at the 607 Invitational at SUNY Cortland on Saturday afternoon. The Indoor Devils had twelve individuals or Relay Teams place, eight of those in the Top Three, and four First Place champions. Two school records were broken and seven performances earned spots on our All-Time Lists.
Leading the way for the boys was senior Nate Raab who set the School Record in the 300 Meter Dash. His time of 37.16 shattered the old record held by Hall of Famer Kevin Withers (Class of 2016) and is the Third fastest time in New York State Small Schools so far this season. Nate rounded out his day by winning the High Jump and anchoring our Third Place finishing 4 by 400 Meter Relay team, along with senior Zephan Tompkins, sophomore Sam Paske, and junior Jake Clutz. Zephan was able to do this after placing third in the 600 Meter Run earlier in the afternoon, with a time of 1:34.02 (which now places him 7th All Time in School History).
Senior Lauren Paske and freshman Ceci Kasmarcik lead the way for the girls’ squad each winning their individual events. Ceci was able to outkick Elmira Notre Dame’s Lylie Colunio in winning the 600 Meter Run by .12 seconds, while Lauren obliterated the previous Shot Put School Record by well over five feet! Her throw of 34 feet 10.75 inches is the furthest so far this season in the Section, the furthest in the State for Small Schools, and the 11th furthest overall in the ENTIRE STATE of New York.
Senior Riley Spalik had an outstanding day, placing in both the 55 Meter Dash and the 300 Meter Run and setting her personal bests for each event. Our 4 by Relay Team consisting of Ceci, freshmen Aubrey McMullen and Clara Little, and junior Delany Wood placed Fourth overall. Senior Jonah Beston finished Third in the Pole Vault, and senior Ethan Austin placed third in the 55 Meter Dash.
It was an excellent way to start the season, and we look forward to next week’s Section IV Classic.
